I’ve experienced mental health challenges and homelessness from the age of 14 for 7 years and I know first-hand how difficult suffering from Mental Health is as a Young Person.

With a dedicated team of experienced professionals who’ve worked with young offenders and families of children with SEND and challenging behaviours, we’re committed to offering crucial support for children and young people that’s increasingly essential for their success.

We bring a wealth of knowledge in promoting positive mental health and well-being. Together, we strive to create positive opportunities for the children and young people we support, enabling them to thrive within their schools and broader communities.

At Herts Schools Outreach (UK), our core mission is to foster positive impact, well-being, and mental health for every child and young person. This commitment shapes our approach, dedication, and the impact we aim to achieve.

So far (November 2023), we’ve positively impacted and supported over 2,127 children and young people.

We’re confident that our expertise will offer much-needed early intervention support to promote good mental health and well-being, encouraging young people to make safer and healthier choices.

Amid a 275% increase in calls to external support services during the pandemic, the mental health and well-being needs of our students are at an all-time high. To prevent further decline in their mental health and well-being, HSO is here to bridge the gap between early identification and essential intervention and external services, ensuring prompt support for all students.

At HSO, we believe that children and young people are more than their difficulties; they are individuals to be cherished, nurtured, and empowered to reach their full potential. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their best selves, and for some, this journey requires guidance and support. Equipping young people with the skills and mindset to succeed in all aspects of life is our priority.

Children and young people are at the centre of what we do, and we are passionate about ensuring they all have the chance to fulfil their potential, no matter the hurdles they may face – let’s Believe in a Better Tomorrow together.

Michaela Johnson - Founder & CEO
“After COVID and school closing, I found it really hard coming in to school and being away from home. The sessions I had helped me to share my thoughts and feelings and meant that I was able to have help with attending school more regularly. I really liked being able to share my views with my teachers and work together in my sessions to create ways I can help myself, using my own ideas and words.”
